What is the best advice for a 24-year-old young but jobless person?

I was in your position at some point of time, here is what you should follow:

  1. Join a gym and bust your a**: You might think that this has got nothing to do with getting a job but it actually is very essential. Understand that you are now at a high risk of depression and mental breakdown. Weight / resistance training will make you strong mentally and keep you away from depression.
  2. Stop with all that pornography: It is very easy to feel bored all alone at home and nothing else to do, to seek comfort for a short period of time we turn to porn. Yes it does give you a temporary relief but in the long term it will only make you lose your self respect.
  3. Spend every other second educating yourself: You should spend every single minute of your day learning something that might get you a job, be it programming, sales, or some other skill. YouTube and other MOOC platforms should be your top destinations.
  4. Operate with a sense of urgency: Act as if you have to get a job immediately. If you take it slow and easy you might end up being jobless for months and trust me you don’t want that.
  5. Pick any job you qualify for: If you don’t have enough skills, then there is no shame in starting out low. Your first aim should be to get employed, don’t care about the salary for now, you can always quit and find another job.
  6. Understand that things change, no matter how bad they are right now: I’ve been in situations which seems impossible to get out from, you might think that your current circumstances are hard and wont change, but guess what, they do change and life does get back to normal.
  7. Set a goal: Buy a diary, write down your goal. Say I will get XYZ job by the end of this month, or I will make X,XXX $ by the end of the month. This might sound stupid but writing down your goals does help a lot.
  8. Reverse engineer: Lets say you decide that you want to get a job at XYZ company at XYZ role, then look up the company website, search what skills they are looking for and then figure out where to learn those skills form. You don’t have to buy a book or some online course, you can start learning for free from YouTube and online written tutorials.
  9. Keep yourself busy: You should either be learning, sleeping, eating, working out, meditating, peeing, bathing or taking a s**t. If you are tired of learning, just meditate and don’t rush to pick up your phone, if you are hungry then eat. If you feel like you are tired by sitting all day then hit the gym or go for a run.
  10. Apply for tons of job every day: Apply for as many jobs as you can, provided they are relevant to your skills. either apply online, or appear for walk in interviews. If you throw enough darts, at least a couple of them would hit the target.
